This week, work started on our new boardwalk. Hopefully it will be finished by nightingale week. John Steel (right) made the boardwalk as a kit for us to assemble, but he put in the steel supports and frame, so we (I mean Roland on the left) only have to add the deck and the hand rail. The new boardwalk is longer and wider than the original, with a hand rail on one side and more seating. The Friends of Paxton Pits Nature Reserve are paying for the entire structure.
Update: The police and fire brigade both say that arson is the most likely cause of the blaze at the otter holt. The mysterious underground workshop is almost certainly a (recently) disused drugs factory.
