BBC comes to the Pits

A team from the BBC Natural History Unit in Bristol came to see us this week. They are filming a programme about the Top 40 wildlife spectaculars you can see in the UK. These include salmon leaping. gannets fishing, starlings roosting, and, at number 16, great crested grebes displaying.

On Wednesday a single cameraman managed to get some good close ups of the grebes in bright sunshine as well as some foggy atmospheric shots. Then on Friday a larger team came with the presenter Mike Dilger and they managed to film the entire display and some work "to camera" by Mike and myself.

You can find out more about Mike at http://www.bbc.co.uk/naturescalendar/winter/presenters/dilger.shtml

The programmes will go out in April on BBC2. Look out for them.
