Nightingale Festival

Monday’s Dawn Chorus and Breakfast event kicked off our week of nightingale watches at Paxton Pits Nature Reserve with 25 people and 12 nightingales, taking part.

Our biggest event of the week is on Thusday night, May 10th.which is when we have our annual Nightingale Evensong Guided Walks beginning at 7.30pm and finishing at 9.00pm. We will keep running guided tours for small groups as people arrive. Just turn up; its free!

This year we have introduced a new event to the programme on Sunday 13th of May:

COMMISSION A PAINTING OF YOUR FAVOURITE BIRD.

Peter Partington, an elected member of the Society of Wildlife Artists and known in many corners of the world for his work, has kindly agreed to spend Sunday 13th May (from 10.30 am to 4.00 pm) at Paxton Pits drawing and painting your favourite birds on the spot, whilst you watch. See your favourite bird come to life on paper.

A charge of £25 will be made for each picture of which a percentage will go towards our wonderful reserve. Do not miss this great opportunity to meet the man and see him at work

Peter will bring just a few samples of his work for you to view. In his paintings he seeks out the effects of light and weather on the landscape and its wildlife. He expresses this through the discipline and freedom of water-colour. His technique has been described as 'magical' so why not find out for yourself.
