Big cheque

Last summer, the Friends hosted a family fun day that was run by the Anglia Co-operative foodstore at Old Great North Road, Eaton Socon.

That event raised over £1,400 in just four hours, but this sum has since been matched by Anglia Co-operative to enable a cheque for £2,939 to be presented to the Friends of Paxton Pits Nature Reserve.

Dr Ray Matthews, chairman of The Friends, said: “We are stunned by this unexpected doubling of the already substantial donation. It will enable The Friends and the Reserve’s Rangers to bring forward several planned improvements to the nature trails, making them more easily accessible in all weathers.  We are immensely grateful to the staff at the Eaton Socon store, and to their customers, for this important contribution to our community nature reserve.”
