Harvest

We are about three weeks late getting our cereals in but the wet weather seems to be behind us now. Our problem has always been that we depend on help from Farmer Paul Walsh from the Herts. Heavy Horse Society. He has an old binder that cuts the crop and ties it into bundles with the ear still on. It can then be fed back to the birds in winter, or it could be threshed at a convenient time to remove the grain. Paul is a busy man with his own farm so our small crop has to wait until he has a spare moment. However, Ranger Roland Fletcher has found an old binder on a local farm and bought it. Once we have fixed it up we should be able to harvest our own crop in future.
